Delete your account

Last updated:

This page covers SousChef for the home: the Android app “SousChef” (gr.souschef.souschef) and the app at sous-chef.eu/app. The provider and controller is Nikolaos Portokallidis, Al. Panagouli 10, 17885 Zografou, Athens, Greece, email info@sous-chef.eu. It explains how to delete your account, what is deleted, what is kept, and for how long.

1. Delete from the app

You need an internet connection and to be signed in to the account you want to delete.

  • Open Settings.
  • At the bottom, below your plan, tap “Delete account”.
  • Read what is deleted and what is kept. If you also want your recipes removed from the device, choose “Also remove them from this device”. Otherwise they stay on the device, without an account.
  • Type your account’s email and tap “Delete account”.

There is no undo. If there is no connection or the server does not answer, nothing changes on your device and the app tells you; try again.

2. Delete without the app

If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, write to info@sous-chef.eu from the account’s email address, with the subject “Delete account”. We will delete the account the same way and reply when it is done. If you write from another address, we will first ask you to prove the account is yours.

3. What is deleted

Deleting the account removes from our database at once:

  • your email, your name, your Google link, the sign-in codes you requested and the account’s library record;
  • the server copy of everything you synced: recipes, variations, week plan, cooking history, favourites and settings;
  • diet and allergy preferences, if you had given consent;
  • the MCP key and the assistant connections (for example Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT) of the account, and the usage counters that concern only your account;
  • your recipes’ cover images from the image storage. If the storage does not answer at that moment, the deletion of the images is retried automatically every hour until it succeeds, and a copy held in the network’s cache may still open for up to a day; meanwhile only each file’s name is kept.

Recipes you had published leave the public catalogue within about 30 minutes; browsers or search engines that already have a copy may show them for a while longer. Your other devices are signed out the next time they talk to the server and keep what they already have.

4. What is kept and for how long

  • So that the weekly free AI use does not come back by deleting and signing up again, a one-way keyed hash of your email, not the email itself, stays with the dates of your last free AI uses. It is deleted about a day after 7 days have passed since the last use. The app tells you before you delete.
  • The number of failed AI attempts of the current day under the same hash, and the number of free AI uses from one network under a separate hash of the network address: deleted the next day.
  • The server’s overall AI call and cost totals, which contain no personal data.
  • Backups: the daily backups of the database and files are kept 7 days and the weekly ones 4 weeks, then deleted; the account you deleted disappears from them as they expire, that is, within about 4 weeks. Before each update of the service we also keep a copy of the database on the server, the last 10; there is no guaranteed time limit, because they stay until 10 newer ones exist. If we need to restore the database from a backup, an account you deleted may come back while the backup is valid; write to us and we will delete it again.
  • Logs (IP address, time, request, browser or app type) for the security of the service: the web server’s access logs for 14 days and the application’s request log for 5 days; other application logs are overwritten at a size limit.
  • Copies that other users made of your published recipes: they are theirs and stay, with no link to you. A cover image that such a copy still shows stays with the copy and is deleted when it is deleted.

Nothing else linked to you is kept. If you write to us, our email provider holds the correspondence and we keep it for as long as needed to answer you and to show that we handled your request.

5. On your device

Your recipes and plan on the device are not deleted unless you ask, because the device may hold the only copy. They stay as a library without an account, without their covers from the server, which are deleted. You can remove them with the option on the deletion screen or by uninstalling the app.

6. Your rights

Deletion is one of your rights. For the others, see the Privacy policy or write to info@sous-chef.eu.
