How much does it cost?
Nothing while the beta lasts, and no card. With Free your recipes stay on your device and you get one use a week of smart import, AI variations and the AI week plan. For Plus, with sync and more smart imports, write to info@sous-chef.eu.
Do I need an account?
Not to start: recipes are stored on your device. A free account adds recipes from a link and the weekly AI uses. One person, one account: addresses with a + are not accepted, and dots in a Gmail address count as the same address.
Does it sync across devices?
Yes, with Plus. With Free your recipes stay on the device you use.
How often can I use the AI features?
With Free, once a week each: smart import from a photo, link or video, an AI variation of a recipe and an AI week plan. Plus has more.
What is smart import?
An AI model reads a photo, handwriting or a caption and writes a draft recipe. On Free you check and correct it before it is saved on your device. On Plus it is saved straight away in your private library, and it waits as a draft for review if something looks incomplete; check it before you cook from it. The AI never calculates quantities or costs.
Where is my data stored?
Your account and the Plus copy are on a server in Finland (Hetzner). When you ask for AI, the content of the request goes to Google, which may process it outside the EU. Recipe cover images and encrypted backups are stored in Cloudflare R2. We do not sell data, show ads or use trackers.
Are the allergen tags safe to rely on?
They are informational, not a guarantee. They come from the ingredients the recipe lists. On Plus an AI may write them. Always check the packaging, especially for serious allergies.
How do you handle diet and allergy data?
It may reveal your health or beliefs, so it is stored only with explicit consent (on Plus), kept separately, and not sent to the AI provider. You withdraw consent in Settings.
Is there an Android app?
It is coming soon to Google Play. On iPhone, and on Android until then, use the web app: add it to your home screen from your browser.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Recipes and the plan live on your device. With Plus sync, changes are sent when the connection returns.
Can I publish my recipes?
With Plus, only your own original recipes, and only if you choose to. Recipes from links or from others are never published. You can withdraw a published recipe at any time.
How do I delete my account?
In the app’s Settings, or by emailing info@sous-chef.eu from the address of the account. Deletion covers the account and whatever the server holds for you; the “Delete your account” page explains what is kept and for how long. It cannot be undone.
